Synopsis

This research focuses on the right to be forgotten in Brazil, analyzing its evolution, application, and conflicts with freedom of expression and the right to information, based on judicial decisions and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), the study examines Brazilian jurisprudence, revealing inconsistencies in court interpretations. The hypothesis suggests that the right to be forgotten is applied variably, reflecting diverse approaches across social and legal contexts. Using qualitative and documentary methodology, the study successively explores the origins and international variations of the right to be forgotten, its development in Brazil, and the challenges posed by the internet to privacy and informational self-determination. The analysis of future perspectives emphasizes the need for clearer regulation to ensure privacy protection without compromising freedom of expression.
