Jogos de azar e a era digital: Análise de legalidade das apostas e suas consequências

This work addresses the topic of gambling in general, analyzing its implications in the legal system, considering the growth of this activity with a focus on digital platforms that have driven this practice. The central scope of the research seeks to understand the socioeconomic and legal impact of online betting and gaming, since, through new technologies, they are no longer restricted to casinos and have become part of the daily lives of millions of Brazilians. Furthermore, specifically the objective is to present the historical and legislative trajectory of gambling, from the prohibition in 1946 to the current partial regulation; assess how new regulations, despite being necessary for tax collection and consumer protection, still face obstacles; and present data regarding the growth in access and use of these means of consumption, also encouraging responsible practice so that it is possible to generate economic benefits while preserving social well-being, in order to balance profit and social protection. Therefore, the methodology used was bibliographic analysis with exploratory purposes.
