The increasing demand for mineral resources and the need for safer, more efficient mining operations have driven the adoption of drones in mining surveying. This study explores how drone technology enhances planning, monitoring, and management activities in mining operations. By replacing or complementing traditional surveying methods, drones offer high accuracy, operational cost reductions, and faster data collection. Equipped with high-resolution cameras and LiDAR sensors, drones enable the capture of detailed three-dimensional geospatial data across large areas, including challenging or inaccessible regions, without the need for field personnel. This capability not only improves data quality but also enhances worker safety by minimizing their exposure to hazardous zones. The research assesses the benefits of using drones in mining, discussing improvements in productivity, safety, and sustainability, and addressing the regulatory challenges and limitations involved in their implementation within the Brazilian mining sector.
