This work portrays the sustainable management of urban drainage and how it is crucial for the development of cities. As a result of population growth, drainage systems have become a focus in engineering. We seek to investigate how to improve efficiency to deal with challenges such as flooding and water pollution. Problems include flooding, erosion, and soil sealing. Consequences are material damage, safety risks, and environmental and economic impacts. We aim to explore strategies to improve efficiency, prevent flooding, create absorption areas and control pollution. The study also aims to contribute to public policies and sustainable urban planning practices. In the end, we concluded that investing in green infrastructure and environmental education are fundamental. Challenges include coordination between sectors and ensuring adequate maintenance. This study promoted understanding of the challenges and solutions to promote safer and more resilient cities.
