SISTEMA PENITENCIÁRIO BRASILEIRO EOS IMPACTOS DA SUPERLOTAÇÃO CARCERÁRIA

A study was carried out on the Brazilian penitentiary system facing significant
challenges, with prison overcrowding being one of the most pressing problems. This
study investigates the impacts of this overcrowding, examining its consequences for
human rights, public security and the resocialization of inmates. The analysis reveals
that overcrowding contributes to inhumane conditions of incarceration, hindering the
effectiveness of resocialization policies and increasing rates of violence within prisons.
Furthermore, the overload of the judicial system and the urgent need for structural
reforms to mitigate these adverse effects are discussed. This study not only identifies
the challenges faced, but also proposes measures to improve prison conditions and
promote a fairer and more efficient system.
