Synopsis

This undergraduate thesis (TCC) deals with the creation of a hydrometric station on the Poxím-Açu River, located in the state of Sergipe, northeastern Brazil. The primary objective is to provide accurate and continuous data on water levels and flows, essential for the efficient management of water resources in the Jaime Umbelino basin and reservoir. The research details the implementation stages of the hydrometric station, including the physical, hydrological, socioeconomic and environmental characterization of the Poxím-Açu river basin. The Poxím-Açu river basin is vital for the water supply of the Aracaju metropolitan region, as well as sustaining agricultural activities and preserving local ecosystems. The installation of the hydrometric station aims to monitor water levels, enabling informed decision-making for water resource management, reservoir operation, flood and drought mitigation and environmental protection. The technical procedures for installing the hydrometric station follow the recommendations of the ANA-CPRM Manual, including the selection of stable and accessible locations for the level references (RNs) and anchoring posts. The linimetric rulers, used to read the water level, are detailed in their construction and installation, guaranteeing the accuracy of the measurements. The team required to create the station includes hydrologists, cartographic engineers, technical surveyors and environmentalists, totaling a group of 5 to 7 professionals. The estimated cost of establishing the hydrometric station on the Poxím-Açu River includes equipment, construction materials and labor, making it a crucial investment for the sustainable management of the region's water resources and the safety of lives downstream. The products resulting from the creation of the hydrometric station include monitoring reports, flood and drought alerts, hydrological data accessible to the population and managers, as well as studies and research that can guide public water management policies. The conclusion of this undergraduate thesis highlights the importance of the hydrometric station for the Poxím-Açu river basin, emphasizing the benefits for water resource management, natural disaster mitigation and environmental protection. The creation of the station represents a significant step forward for the sustainability and water resilience of the region, contributing to improving the quality of life of the local population and the conservation of river ecosystems.
