Análise constitucional da proposta de unificação das forças policiais como forma de controle da criminalidade

The present work aims to analyze, from the Federal Constitution of 1988, on the possibility of unifying the state police forces, Civil Police and Military Police, aiming to provide considerable improvements with regard to the promotion of public security to society. It is questioned whether the deficiency in dealing with crime as a social problem may be due to an outdated and outdated model of police, which brings within it traits intrinsically linked to the conception arising from the military period that the agent of the State has, in the criminal , an enemy to be eliminated and not a citizen who finds himself on the fringes of legality. In view of the above, in the end, it can be concluded that the current police model needs to be restructured, based on the unification of the police, which, respecting fundamental principles, will act in a democratic way, always seeking to improve the relationship between the police officer and society. . The research methodology used was bibliographic research by renowned authors, such as Maria Sylvia Z. Di Pietro, Manoel M. Guedes Valente and Jorge da Silva Giulian, among others who discuss the possibility of unification of the police, respecting the guarantees inherent to the Democratic State of Law enshrined in our Constitutional Charter.
