The FMDS (Floor Management Development System), created by Toyota, is an essential tool for standardizing and improving the management of routines in production units. In parallel, 5S is a widely adopted methodology aimed at promoting more organized, safe, and productive work environments. However, its application in the mining industry presents specific challenges due to the unique characteristics of the operations and culture of this sector. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how the integration of 5S into the FMDS, already implemented in a mining company, can minimize these challenges and create a safer work environment. To achieve this goal, tools such as PDCA, A3, and 5W2H were used. The results showed significant progress in the maturity of 5S, as well as improvements in operational safety and efficiency within the company.
