Synopsis

The present work aims to investigate the evolution and impacts of occupational safety within the organizational context, emphasizing the importance of effective safety systems to minimize risks and promote healthy and productive work environments. The research addresses the relationship between health and work, highlighting that worker health is a fundamental factor that influences not only the well-being of employees but also the productivity and profitability of companies. The study begins with a literature review on the costs associated with worker health, including both direct and indirect costs that companies face due to accidents and occupational diseases. The analysis reveals that a lack of investment in health and safety can result in high rates of absenteeism, employee turnover, and compensation costs, negatively impacting organizational performance. Furthermore, the paper discusses companies' perspectives on health and safety at work, emphasizing the growing importance of socially responsible management. Companies that adopt health and safety practices not only protect their employees but also position themselves competitively in the market. The research concludes that implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Management System is essential to ensure the physical and mental integrity of workers, fostering a safer and more productive work environment.
